Modem
If a phone line is available this is the most traditional way to send data to your sign. Software can be setup to automate the process of sending to one or more signs.

Cellular Modem
Where no phone line is available near the sign, a wireless cellular modem is a good option. With continued upgrades in the cellular network the coverage areas and line quality are continually improving while the cost of buying and operating the equipment is decreasing steadily

Internet Web-Feed
Software can be setup to automate the process of moving data from your corporate or personal web site to your sign. New information is continually analyzed and updated on the sign.

|
Ticker / Pager
A low cost solution that allows data to be sent from a password protected website, directly to your sign or pre-defined group of signs. Optional data feeds include news, sports, and entertainment, and can be integrated with custom messages or sent exclusively to the signs. Coverage areas include most populated areas within the U.S. and Canada as well as many worldwide.

RS232/ RS422/ RS485 Direct Connection
For installations where the sign is within a few thousand feet and it is possible to run communications cables to the sign, this is the optimal solution. With no operational cost and minimal cost for cable, a direct connection is the most common installation method.

Ethernet
Ethernet servers can be embedded within the sign. These devices support DHCP, simplifying network configuration. There are 10 Base T and 100 Base T options. This is a good option for signs that are located near an Ethernet connection.

|
RF Modem
A variety of wireless modem options exist. These devices generally work well although there can be periods of communications retries. There are environmental constraints to consider when exploring this option. Many factories or plants are already wired for pagers and in these cases it may be possible to treat your sign as another pager.
